Ad – gifted. We sailed on this cruise as part of our ongoing promotional partnership with LLV Club.
We sailed on LLV Club's Sensual Voyage on the Crystal Symphony, a week-long swinger cruise from Boston. Here's how it matched, and missed, what we expected: the crowd, the luxury, the theme nights, the workshops, the weather and the people we met.
Before we sailed, we wrote down exactly what we expected from the week onboard with LLV Club. Now we're home, here's how it actually went.
Will a swinger cruise crowd feel different?
The international and age mix was exactly what we'd expected. What we hadn't expected was how much being the only British couple would help us.
Our Northern English accents were an instant icebreaker, and swapping notes on the small differences in everyday life turned out to be a brilliant way to build rapport before the conversation went anywhere else.
How much social battery do you need?
More than you think. Every time you leave the cabin, you're "open to chat": greeting the staff in the corridor, the buffet, a word with the maître d' at the restaurant, lift chat, bar chat, dancing by the pool. It felt like you were available for conversation at all times unless you were behind the cabin door.
If it's your first swinger lifestyle sailing with LLV Club, you're also cracking existing cliques and friendships, so go in even more prepared than feels necessary. Plenty of people told us it's the same on other takeovers, and that on one as big as Bliss Swinger Cruise you should expect to have the same first conversation over a hundred times.
Is a 6-star swinger cruise really that luxurious?
Yes. The food was insane, the inclusions were fantastic, and we had two room cleans a day and silky Egyptian cotton sheets to climb into at the end of it.
It's the kind of luxury where you stop noticing the effort behind it, which is exactly the point.
All-inclusive drinks on a swinger cruise… what could go wrong?
As an all‑inclusive adult‑only cruise, we fully expected to get drunk a few times. But we also went in with a bit of a plan: pace ourselves, save the de‑briefs for when we’re sober, and keep an eye on our boundaries. Which we did and we did it well. The drinks were flowing but we’ve learned a lot from lifestyle events and messy drunk is NOT attractive or fun. Lifestyle travel can be intoxicating in more ways than one, and we enjoyed the party without losing the plot. A little chaos was a lot of fun.
Theme nights every night? We were right to be tired
There really was a theme night every night, and after a long day in port or a session in the workshops, sometimes it was tough to get in the party spirit. We ducked out early from Nautical Night, and I avoided Eyes Wide Shut night altogether because I don't like masks. Instead, we had a drinks date with a new couple.
The White Party on the last night had the best vibes of the week. The entertainment onboard was okay, with some fantastic performers, including an Elton John tribute act who has a Vegas residency.
What were the workshops like?
The ones we attended were valuable and, in places, amazing. The tantra workshop showed us a new way to touch each other, to be mindful and to be sensual.
The communication and chemistry seminars gave us playbooks for conversations we'd already been having, and ways to make them better. We'd have liked a couple of workshops that weren't on the schedule, such as beginner shibari, but we learned something constantly, and our brains and hearts felt like they were expanding with every new sight, destination and person.
Did the weather play ball?
We'd expected bad weather and packed our swimming gear for the hot tub rather than the pool but the weather was fantastic! We danced on sunbeds in the sunshine and hung out around the pool almost every day.
In port it was blue skies and no rain, so we explored on foot and admired the gorgeous New England towns and their autumn foliage.
Can we actually film content?
Yes, we filmed plenty of content, discreetly, and none of it was of play. It was our time on the ship.
Did Crystal Symphony live up to the hype?
It did. Walking into the suite for the first time was a proper wow moment. A florist came by to look after the live orchids, and our butler brought canapés every day at 5pm, plus breakfast in the suite one morning.
The service made us feel seen. When the buffet had no prune juice, the staff apologised and offered to fetch me prunes instead, and nobody gave a second look when I ordered Coke Zero with breakfast. (Don't judge: it's how I get my caffeine, because I'm not a coffee or tea drinker.)
What are the playrooms actually like on a swinger cruise?
Lifestyle cruises include curated spaces designed for connection, community, and exploration. There was one playroom onboard and while small it was a respectful, welcoming atmosphere; clear etiquette (there was a banner on the door); a mix of personalities; and a space that feels intentionally adult. We didn’t actually visit for any play, instead opting for private play in our new friend’s suite. The time we did spend in there was for the Tantra and Massage workshops that were clothing optional, and the space had lovely vibes.
Did we meet anyone?
We had no expectations to play, but we ended up meeting a couple and going on a couple of amazing dates with them. We've dubbed it our little holiday romance.
They taught us that communicating with play partners in the moment makes for a better time, and they were brilliant with words and laughter. As with a lot of our swinger experiences, we connected so well that we're friends for life, and they're planning a trip over to London from Texas so we can pick up where we left off.
Were we ready for the post-cruise crash?
Not entirely. The journey out was arduous, and it took us a day or two onboard to sync up, with the real rhythm arriving around day three. We were a little discombobulated, and that's okay, because it was intense onboard.
Then we had to dig deep for the journey home: 36 hours, two flights and a drive north from London, pushing through the jet lag with real life waiting at the other end. The aftermath has been intense too, with the talks, the holiday blues and the reflections still going on.
The verdict
The reality matched or beat what we'd expected in most ways, and the comedown was harder than we'd predicted. We'd go again, and we'd prepare for the social battery and the aftermath a little better.
