Our First Swinger Cruise: A Day-by-Day Diary

We'd researched swinger cruises for months. In October 2026 we finally sailed on one: eight days on the Crystal Symphony from Boston, around Maine and Nova Scotia, with LLV Club. After three years of non-monogamy, here's what a real swinger cruise looks like day by day, without the clickbait.

Travel day and Day 1: Montreal to Boston

We flew to Montreal, grabbed a short sleep, then took a bus to Boston to meet the ship. Our suite was a dream, our butler introduced himself, and Red Seduction night was a relaxed way to find our feet.

Day 2: Portland, Maine

Sunshine and a lovely walk round Portland's independent shops, then our first seminars, which were heavy going and all about communication. Afternoon on the pool deck with the DJ, dancing on sunbeds with champagne, then Moulin Rouge night.

Day 3: Saint John, New Brunswick

A buffet breakfast on deck in the warm sunshine, a wander round the town and harbour, then a vintage Rolls-Royce collected us for a visit to the area's only lifestyle club, hosted by Chuck and Alia. We spent hours hearing their story and learning about the local scene. After that, a quiet dinner and early night.

Day 4: Day at sea

Body painting, a photography workshop and a tantric workshop, all in one day. Over a cocktail on deck in the mist we met a gorgeous couple from San Antonio and invited them for after-dinner drinks. The conversation flowed, and the night carried on in private.

Day 5: Sydney, Nova Scotia

We walked further than most guests, right to the edge of town and round a little lake and gardens. Back onboard came back-to-back seminars on mindfulness, connection and chemistry, and ageing well. Our favourite of the cruise was Dr Jay and Liseth of Soulmates for Life on the 7 conversations every lifestyle couple should have, plus the four horsemen of conflict. It was reassuring and gave us new communication tools.

Day 6: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Butler breakfast in the suite as we sailed in, then the botanical gardens, the Citadel and our first poutine. A pool and hot tub break, then Hollywood Glam night with our new friends.

Day 7: An unplanned day at sea

Weather meant we missed Yarmouth, so we shot content around the ship, did the jigsaw, packed (sadly) and tried two speciality restaurants. White Sensation night finished the trip with great entertainment and a farewell dance.

Day 8: Boston

Disembarkation, a day of sightseeing and gift shopping, then home.

What we'd tell a first-timer

  • Don't skip the seminars. They were the surprise highlight.

  • Talk before you go, and keep talking. Boundaries and communication checks never stop.

  • Choose the people over the play. The connections were the best part.

  • Pace yourselves. Late nights and early port stops add up fast.

  • Expect the itinerary to change. Weather cancelled Yarmouth for us.
